VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebration at the Park

VE Day 80th Anniversary

We have an amazing evening of celebration for you on Thursday 8th May.
To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe, which culminates in the lighting of the Wythall Beacon (part of the chain of beacons, up and down
the country) we have got some fabulous plans!

Even though it’s a school night, we’re starting at 4pm with Bounce And Ride, who proved such a hit last summer.

Then the Club is opening up at 6pm, because we are also celebrating the arrival of Batham’s (who’ve been brewing locally for nearly 150 years) with their Best Bitter.

The Cheswick Green Ukulele Orchestra are performing in the Britannia Room from 8pm. A fabulous set of songs – feel free to join in with the singing.

At 9:10pm we are being treated to a taster of one of the best fireworks shows in the country.

Then onto the more formal Exhortation, Last Post, Reveille and Kohima from The Kings Norton Youth Marching Band, the RBL Country standard bearer and
St Mary’s Church.

At 9:30pm, Royal Navy veteran Craig Smith, will take a break from cooking pizzas as Twisted Kitchen to light the beacon and join in with the national tribute.
And then we will finish the night with a second set from the Cheswick Green Ukulele Orchestra.
