Wythall Radio ClubWythall Radio Club, established in 1981, has around 40 members including overseas members in Italy, USA and St. Helena Island.
The Club meets every Tuesday from 7.30pm in the Bar. We use the Darts Room for monthly sessions ‘on-the-air’ and talks.
We also operate short wave and satellite radio equipment from the front lawn or other parts of Wythall Park during the summer.

The Club operates demonstration stations at local events and attractions such as Transport Museum Wythall and Stoke Prior Steam Fair, and for local Beaver, Cub, Scout and Guide groups.

Amateur Radio

Amateur Radio is also known as “Ham Radio” and has been around for over 100 years. Radio Hams have the opportunity to experiment with all aspects of radio, including digital communication by linking computers to two-way radios, construction, contacting hams in other continents or rare destinations, communicating via satellites or the International Space Station and lots more. It is an incredibly diverse and very popular interest hobby with over six million people involved worldwide.

Training

Anyone can listen in to amateur radio, but a licence is required to transmit and
communicate with other hams. The basic Foundation licence is straightforward to achieve, and can lead on to Intermediate and Full licences. Wythall Radio Club can offer advice on training.
